it was dark outside, the moon rising in the sky. some businessmen and sketchy characters roamed the littered sidewalks while street lamps dimly lit the way. brighter lights came from higher up, billboards and store signs. all were glowing in different colors and styles, adding interest to the night. some would find it annoying, hard to sleep with it washing through their apartment windows. ginny, on the other hand, found the lights in the night to be a great source for pictures. the bus was parked not far from here, and the others were either sleeping or up to their own thing back there. she felt like taking a walk, she wanted to take some pictures for later paintings or something. and she wanted to breathe some fresh air. they would be leaving tomorrow, and that meant at least a day of being trapped in the tight bus. there were only so many pictures to be taken in there. with bumps, it was hard to sketch and paint too.
lifting the camera that was hanging around her neck, ginny peered through the lens and focused on a giant shoe store sign. with the click of a button and flash of the shutter, she had the picture saved for later. someone shoved past her, making her stumble a little to the side. blinking her blue eyes at their back, she sighed a little and inched to the building, back against it so she was in no one's way and in the light of a store window. she took a picture of the top of an apartment building. the strange array of off and on lights through the windows looked cool. she could even see a couple talking animatedly on their balcony. she let the camera rest against her chest, her hands dropping to her sides as she dug her thumbs into the pockets of her harem pants. she wore a tank top and loose vest and scarf as well, her shoes gladiator sandals. her red hair was pulled up, fringe hanging limply in her face, covering one eye. she closed her eyes for a moment, tilting her head back and taking a deep breath of the air that smelled like feet and bakery rolls. interesting combination.
